Abstract
The electronic components manufacturing industry is vital to Taiwan’s economy and global supply chains. In 2018, its production value reached NT$3,791.74 billion, with Taiwan’s semiconductor exports comprising 13.6% of the global market in 2016. However, the industry contributes 2% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, with Taiwan’s sector experiencing a 7.5% annual growth in emissions from 2015 to 2020. Governments and corporations worldwide are promoting carbon reduction policies, and carbon footprint research aids emission assessment and reduction strategies.Cloud-based digital tools have become crucial for operational efficiency but face challenges in data processing and inter-organizational exchange. Adopting tools with electronic data interchange (EDI) can improve efficiency and accuracy. Based on the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework, this study examines key factors influencing the adoption of cloud-based carbon footprint digital tools in Taiwan’s electronic components industry. The core questions include:How do enterprises evaluate key factors in adoption decisions?Do these factors significantly impact adoption intentions? An online survey was conducted with 401 valid responses from industry professionals. Data were analyzed using SmartPLS 4.1 and SPSS 29.0.Findings show that, in the technological dimension, perceived relative advantage, data compatibility, and data security positively influence adoption intention. In the organizational dimension, top management support, financial and personnel readiness, and enterprise size have positive effects, with top management support being most significant. In the environmental dimension, business partner support and competitive pressure positively influence adoption, with competitive pressure having the strongest impact. This study fills a research gap in cloud-based carbon footprint tool adoption and provides practical insights for enterprises and vendors.
