| dc.description.abstract | Artificial Intelligence has rapidly become an indispensable tool across industries worldwide, transforming work landscapes, causing both amazedness and also concern among some workers. The language service industry, particularly in translation and interpretation, is no exception. In comparison with earlier technologies that attempted to simulate the work of translators and interpreters, AI now has become a potential threat due to its quality and speed, raising concerns about occupational insecurity among professionals. This phenomenon is not a localized, but a global one. This study focuses on two countries with distinct economic and technological scenarios, as well as different working habits and attitudes such as Taiwan and Peru. Despite these differences, professionals from both countries are experiencing the effects of AI translation has such as a decline for human translation. As a result, many professionals fear the disappearance of their occupation and career instability (Moneus & Sahari, 2024). In response, a growing number of interpreters and translators are engaging in multiple job-holding (MJH) to earn alternative income. This shift may influence, positively or negatively, their professional commitment and intention to continue in this field. This research explores the relationship among MJH and professional commitment among interpreters and translators in Peru and Taiwan, while analyzing the moderating role of occupational insecurity. The goal is to understand how professionals adapt to technological changes in diverse social, technological and economic settings. Furthermore, the findings aim to inform institutions to take action in developing supporting strategies and policies in light of AI advancements. | en_US |
